2016 in Review- Bread of Life

Today's spotlight is the Bread of Life Feeding Program. Bread of Life has been around for a while, but this year was something special! Feel free to post your own stories, pictures, and memories with the hashtag #DRMissions2016. We want to hear from you! Here are some of our favorite moments from Bread of Life:

The Bread of Life feeding program also experienced a change in leadership this year. Margarita and Rafelina are doing a great job a leading this week-day ministry along with their other duties.

This year, we had the first ever BOL VBS. It was three exhausting days full of fun activities, powerful worship, and lots of snacks. To this day, the kids are still telling us the main points from each day, like “God is my map, He directs my steps.” We focused on the stories of Noah, Daniel, and Jesus.

We also planted a garden at Bread of Life. We learned that some plants grow better than others. The okra seemed to do the best! We hope that we can continue to cultivate the garden and be able to provide fresh vegetables for the BOL kids.

The older Bread of Life boys had a special event just for them this year. In July, we had a Rite of Passage ceremony where we got to celebrate 13 of our young men ages 12 and up. Many of these boys have left the program to work and help provide for their families. Led by Pastor Tim Doyle, words of life and a father’s blessing were spoken over each participant. It was a powerful celebration of the young men we have watched grow up.

Black shoes and backpacks were also given out to the children, allowing many of them to attend another school year.

Four of the older girls celebrated quinceañeras this year and it was a fun time to make them feel special!
